1. Survey the market for golf carts before buying. You should compare the prices of other refurbished carts before making up your mind on which one to buy. Take note that when dealing with used golfcarts, the ones with the lowest prices are normally the most wear and tear.
2. Warranties must also be considered.
3. You may want to choose an electric-powered cart over the gasoline-powered one. Electric carts are easier to find nowadays because most golf courses use them. Plus, they are more environmentally friendly than gas powered.
4. If you want a more affordable choice for the use golf cart, you could look into an "as-is" model.

Make sure you are getting a polycarbonate windshield and not an acrylic windshield. Acrylic windshields do not offer as much protection from golf balls.

* Grease all zirts
* Check brakes, cables and pads
* Check and/or replace all weak battery cables and terminal ends
* Replace batteries as needed
* Check and/or replace battery hold downs
* Check all wheel bearings and grease or replace if needed
* Check or replace brake and gas pedal pads
* Check tie rod ends and steering
* Check tires for tread and air
* Load test each batteries and charge cart
* Any recommended major repairs

When buying a used gas golf cart for sale, here is the minimum list of things that should be done in addition to the above:

* Gap and change spark plugs
* Change oil and check rear and grease
* Change air filter and clean air box
* Check air intake hose for any holes or cracks and replace if needed
* Clean carburetor with carburetor cleaner
* Check compression and write on the back of the white tag
* Check generator output
* Check battery with load tester and replace if weak or bad
* Check the engine mounts
* Check all belts
* Check clutch, rear shelve and clutch buttons
* Ask if there are any repairs that needed to be done: (engine rebuild, starter/generator, etc)
